This is what technology can become: not just tools we use, but gathering places where communities learn, share, and build together. Just like urban gardens transform neighborhoods, community-owned tech can strengthen local connections and create new possibilities.
We call this vision tundraOS—our "wilderness", our unknown, is a little bit cold, a little bit daunting and overwhelming – but we're working on it—and when it's ready, it will run on tundraPhone and tundraLaptop. Devices built on the principles from Essay 9298: Hilbert's crystalline precision (flowing yet well-formed specifications, verifiable correctness), Schauberger's ecological flow (natural patterns, regenerative cycles), and community-driven healing (community ownership, eternal repairability).

Companies like Fairphone and Framework have proven that modular, repairable design is practical and delightful. When devices are built for longevity, users save money, reduce waste, and gain confidence knowing their technology can grow with them. The materials in our devices—rare minerals, precious metals, carefully manufactured components—deserve to be used for decades, not discarded after a couple years.
The best part? Repairable devices often work better. Simpler designs mean fewer points of failure. Standard components mean abundant spare parts. Clear documentation means anyone can learn to fix things. What starts as environmental responsibility becomes practical advantage.

The Design

Software: tundraOS, based on SixOS (our s6-supervised sovereign system). Frozen system specification that you build from source. Every component provably correct, cryptographically verified. No black-box binaries you must trust. No hidden telemetry sending data to advertisers. Your phone, running software you control.

tundraLaptop is Framework hardware running tundraOS. SixOS provides reproducible builds—the same specification produces identical systems every time. S6 supervision keeps processes light and controllable. Minimal software stack focused on durability and clarity.
The laptop comes with build instructions, not just user manuals. You can rebuild the entire software system from source specifications. Ten years from now, twenty years from now, you can still compile fresh. The laptop hardware lasts; the software matches that longevity.
